Meet Dr. Elsa Maxwell
Dr. Maxwell is a bicultural and bilingual scholar-practitioner whose expertise in intercultural training and education has spanned the globe. For 16 years, she worked from her base in Chile with a global educational nonprofit, impacting organizations in over 25 countries. Her impressive academic credentials include:
A master’s degree in Latin American Studies
A doctorate in Hispanic American Literature from the University of Chile
A certificate in Afro-Latin American Studies from Harvard University
Dr. Maxwell has also taught courses in diasporic literature, Latin American and Caribbean studies, intercultural communication, and Spanish language and culture at esteemed institutions such as the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile, the University of Minnesota, and Colorado College.
In 2024, Dr. Maxwell founded SHIFT Intercultural Consulting to help organizations increase their intercultural capacity and navigate cultural differences authentically and effectively. Through her work, she is redefining how organizations approach diversity, equity, and inclusion.
